A WILD RIDE
Nana Nicole has been knitting since she could hold needles in her hands. Her Lismi projects have been her faithful companions, no matter what twists and turns her life has taken. And there have been plenty of twists and turns. On the snow, for example, when she and her partner Andy Tanner competed in snowboarding championships in the early 80s and founded Switzerland's first snowboard and skate shop. She loved the rebellious spirit that the subculture brought with it, and the neon colors of the accompanying clothing. Despite long, intense days in the shop, she sewed clothes for her children from sweatshirts from well-known surf brands. But she also kept busy knitting – she seemingly tirelessly Lismied sweaters, hats, and booties for her own children and the babies around her. Even today, there is nothing more beautiful to her than welcoming a newborn into the world with a hand-knitted gift, or knitting sweaters for her grandchildren to order.
Her next career move was a successful foray into the sneaker business with Könix on Steinmühleplatz, before deciding to devote herself full-time to the Alprausch label founded by her partner. For over 20 years, she designed collections and co-managed the label, gaining a deep understanding of the fashion industry. She always remained curious and usually found her inspiration where she felt most at home – on the streets of the city.
And now, after half a lifetime in the fashion business and thousands of knitted stitches, she wants to realize her long-held dream of her own personal wool paradise. In her own way, of course—with a generous helping of rock 'n' roll and a dash of granny chic.
